"It's over." Cain breathed a deep sigh of relief as he heard the faint stirrings of joy in his son's voice. Jeb went on. "I've been fighting so long ... my whole life, really. It hardly seems real."

Cain nodded. "I've been out of that suit for less than a week. Doesn't seem real to me either."

Jeb flashed a quiet grin. "Wait till Mom hears what we've been up to."

"Your mother? Jeb, I found her grave."

Jeb rolled his eyes. "We missed one? Dammit! Zero had those homemade-looking markers spread out all over the Zone, wherever you might look if you ever got out. Just another one of his mind games."

Cain grabbed his son's arms. "Adora--your mother--she's alive?"

"Yes, Dad, she really is."

Now it really didn't feel real, thought Cain. It felt like heaven.
